No matter what your training or riding background, EETO will provide an exciting and challenging option for you to enhance your horsemanship and your fun factor at your chosen pace!  Whether it's jumping a log on the trail or in the arena, climbing a mountain or negotiating a stream crossing on a 5km or 20km distance ride, Extreme Equestrian Trail provides you with endless opportunities to make the most of your training whilst improving your horses confidence, fitness and ability.

Every rider from the beginner child or novice adult to happy hackers and seasoned professionals will be accommodated with divisions and event classes of varying competitive and technical difficulty.

Green horses have a specific division designed to provide them with an opportunity to compete on an equal playing field whilst growing their skills and confidence.

VARIOUS EXTREME TRAIL & OBSTACLE EVENT TYPES

ARENA OBSTACLE EVENTS
Arena obstacle events judged by internationally accredited judges.
These are timed events open to all riders and breeds, run in a sand/grass arena with up to 13 obstacles of varying difficulty including a ‘free run’ of canter/lope or controlled gallop at the higher levels. Obstacles are designed to challenge horse and rider, but by no means endanger them.  In hand classes also offered.

EXTREME TERRAIN EVENTS (X-Country & Mountain Trail) : 

All terrain, mountain & trail rides between 5-20km with natural obstacles or built obstacles from natural materials of varying difficulty individually judged by accredited EETO judges.  No time penalties per obstacle although the overall course may be timed.

ALL TERRAIN EVENTS :

Timed events run on any terrain in a confined space, which includes both built and natural obstacles of varying difficulty.  EETO rulebook used to judge obstacle negotiation.  Time penalties may or may not be applied to individual obstacles.

 

EXTREME TAG TEAM EVENTS :

Obstacle Events for teams of 2 riders with 12 obstacles.

WHO WE ARE

EETO is the Extreme Equestrian Trail  & Obstacle Association of South Africa specifically founded to provide both recreational and competitive riders from all discipline backgrounds, riding any breed of horse, with an opportunity to participate in multidimensional obstacle and trail events, that are both challenging and fun.

To create an all inclusive equestrian discipline that showcases the attributes of holistic horsemanship​

To provide participants with access to clinics, training shows and graded events nationwide​
